Hi i have a question.. i been going to the gym for about two months now.. i been doing weight training.. the following way.. I do big muscles one day (chest,Back,Legs) and smaller muscles the next(bicept, tricept, shoulders etc) I finish every workout with 15-20minutes of cardio weather on treadmill, bycile, o a stepper. Over these two months i have noticed an increase in strenght, i have seen my shoulders gaining shape, my arms bigger, my back wider, but my midsection doesnt seem to be loosing belly fat. Mind you im 20yrs old, is there anything i should be doing differently? Or incorporate into my workout to loose this stomach fat or will it eventually come if i continue what im doing. (im not doing ab workouts because i heard if i did i would just build muscle or a six pack ontop of the belly fat..is this true.. Ty for all the help appreciate it.

IT is true that doing ab workouts will just build muscle under your belly fat, but this is a good thing. You have less work to do to get them to show after you lose the belly fat.If you are seeing results in your body from your current workout, then it sounds like it is working. The most fat is generally deposited in the stomach and lower back, so these will be the last places you see results. Just keep it up and it will eventually come.

You are absolutley right about abs on top of belly fat. If you want to lose belly fat, you need to increase your cardio to 30-60 minutes (I reccomend the elliptical machine, but tread/bike/stepper is fine)With cardio the idea is to do a long program that elevates your heart rate, but dosen't make you winded and out of breath. Also pay attention to your diet, if you are eating junk food/drinking booze often you won't get a 6-pack no matter how hard you work.

All this talk about extra cardio and extra crunches is nonsense. Uh can anyone say diet? You want to lose body fat around your stomach, than your diet is what needs to change. What is you diet like? Are you eating anything and everything? You need to pick one of two things. Bulking or cutting. Come by http://cagedanimal.net/index.php and post in the beginners forum. We will get you setup and moving in the right direction. The other option is to sit here and waste your time doing a bunch of situps and cardio like everyone will have you believe. I hope to see you there. It will be well worth your time.
