The only weight you may loose doing cardio is going to be fat, which is not what you want if you are trying to gain weight. A good cardio workout will do nothing but help you, it may even increase your endurance so you can excercise longer and get to your goal quicker. As long as you are using the muscles, your body wont use them as an energy source, that means you cant stop doing weight training.

Cardio does burn calories not fat.. it keeps the heart healthy..but you need to focus more on the weights moreso to gain weight..and eating 5 to 6 times a day..I used to work at LA Fitness..For women we want lean muscles, thats why we work out with dumbbells and small weights. mass muscle is through the machine weights, with much added resistance to gain muscle/mass. Your cardio wont affect it most likely, as long as you dont do too much. But you said only a couple days out of the week which sounds pretty good to me. If anything cardio adds balance to the entire scheme of things in any fitness goal...but thats some info for your start...

Yes. Cardio will improve your overall health, heart, and lungs. You must increase your calorie intake. Also add a strength training program.

Too much cardio might affect your muscle growth. If you are afraid that cardio training might hinder your muscle growth, do it not longer than 100 minutes every week (20 min x 5 times, 30 min x 3 times) - enough to promote a good cardiorespiratory conditioning , but not too much to metabolise muscle tissue. You should increase your caloric intake not too much in order to get fat, but enough to promote muscle growth ( of course along a good strenght training program ) - + 200 - 500 kCal a day more than you burn. Increase your caloric intake just by a little bit every week and monitor your progress - body weight, muscle girth, fat folds thickness. Good luck
