Both exercises are designed to stretch and strengthen your body, with a huge emphasis on breathing. However, the differences are:With yoga, you stop in positions and hold them for a while, where Pilates has a more continuous flow (a sequence, if you will) of moves. With yoga breathing, you breathe in and out through the nose. With Pilates, you breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.Yoga is paced a bit slower than Pilates. Overall, they are both effective and fun. With either one, practice them in comfortable clothes and bare feet (if possible).
