I was looking through my dad's yearbook and there was only like one fat guy! in the whole book..it was from lyk 1975....i have to admit i am fat..and may sound hypocritcal asking this question..but don't you think Americans should shapen up..like really..! Our money is becoming worthless and we are known as the fattest people in the world..don't you think the government should pay for people to lose weight? don't blame the resturants, stores or government about your weight problems...!Gees stop complaining and get on a treadmill like me...Maybe if alot of people lose weight others will be encouraged and do the same..Now that i look back at that yearbook its revolting and discusting to see as to what we have become.... .. If we sent all the food that we have overeaten to Africa they would be diseased because of obesity not starvation..you might say that we are already encouraging weight loss..but its just not enough..i am 15we are the ones watching to much tv and eating crappy food..maybe we should encourage walking to places and making streets pedestrian friendly..get a tax return..if you walk?.loli guess the places with fat people are the ones that sell alot of fast food.and are not walking friendly..

Great observation! We do live in a fat country. I see all these young kids going into the fast food joints and I'm guilty of it too. This country does have more fat bodies than any other.

Omg I completly agreed, when I was young I jumped, kicked, played but now I can only blame myself for being even slightly overweight...I need to lose those 10 pounds and I can't just sit on my ass like a douchebag and complain at the big corporations like Micky D's and say its their fault, or even all the food we eat with all the preservatives...thats why I started the treadmill and bike thing three times a week, if I have time to fit studying in than why can't I fit in some excercise it benefits everyone...I am sorry but its fat america moments like these that makes me pissed off that everyone associates our country with obesity...ugh hahha

i think your government should regulate fast food restaurants or force them to sell low calorie foods for dieters and also encourage all of you to reduce weight and be health conscious. young or old...to look good and feel good is always better than being fat...

Fat america really doesnt include all of America just the south and mid-west..Ive lived in new york and connecticut and although obesity is higher than in 1975 most people I see are in good shape. Its places like Texas and Ohio that have all the fatties.

people should not be paid for living healthy. They should be sent away and murdered for being fat and complaining about it, saying it is the food industry's fault.

Well, you might want to know some facts:73% of Americans will be obese by 2008Diabetes is epidemic in the US. Glucose intolerance/insulin resistance gets worse with each successive generationSo, while people are not eating right, their overweight condition may not be their fault. If they are glucose intolerant/ insulin resistant their body is storing fat when it does not need to and it become a vicious cycle. Eat, produce insulin, body resists insulin, tells body to store fat, feel hungry, eat again. People need to get their insulin resistance under control so they can successfully lose weight.
