I have only noticed a tiny difference and I am not happy with that. I am only happy when I suck my stomach in but... when I let it out I feel sick and I feel so useless. I cant do the jogging I was planning to do because I recently hurt my foot (Badly). So all I have been able to do is 30mins of walking which has made me feel useless because everyone else who is trying to get fit is walking 3 times faster than me (Running). I am 12 years old and my mum is very protective of what I do so I cant really go outside for anything else other than my 30min walk. How do I stop feeling useless? and are there any exercises I can do at home that dont involve much foot work?Kristen- You have green eyes I have blue

Your 12, you should not be feeling useless just because of an injury.

first of all, walking is great excersize, and its better than running when you want thinner legs. running makes legs bulk up. try going to walmart and buying weights to walk with or ankle weights or something. keep up a good pace. just keep up a positive attitude. the more you rag on yourself, the more you get depressed. the more you get depressed the more you will eat without realizing AND the more the weight will stick.

Well I think it is more important to heal your foot before you do any excersizing. But one thing that you can do that is really affective (probably after your foot heals) is you bend your arms at the elbows, put them on the ground and be in a push up position. and keep you back flat and stay like that for a minute a day. It really works out your stomache.

Walking is great ... I combined that with pilates and the combination seemed to work for me. Pilates strengthens your abdominal muscles and it is a gentle exercise. It seems to work well to slim your waist and for all-over toning. There are some good instructional DVDs out now for beginners and the exercises are simple so you can do them at home in front of the TV. Many of them are performed while laying down so your foot shouldn't be an issue. Why don't you ask your mom to help you choose a DVD to help you get started? You might also need an exercise mat ... Christmas is coming! Good luck to you - don't get discouraged! You CAN make progress if it is really important to you and you make the exercising thing a priority.
