I want to lose alot of weight as fast as possible. I want to get stronger not just skinnier. I've been running everday for the past 4 months and have lost about 40 pounds. I run about 2 miles and then try to eat as much healthy food as possible. Rice, alot of fruit, not alot of greasy food, and I drink lots of water. But I feel as if I've plateaued. I lost alot of weight at first and now it feels like its taking longer and alot more work to lose more weight.I also lift weights but not too much as I heard that its bad to lift and run at the same time. Should I run more? I dont want to get injured and then not be able to run at all. I'm 21 and I want to be in great shape. Should I just stay on this path or am i doing something wrong?By the way I don't want to use diet pills or dietary herbs or any other magical remedies, I decided from day 1 to do this all naturally.

there is a point everyone hits where they stop losing weight, you now have to work harder, best low impact is swimming, so in the morning swim, and evening run! good luck!!

Great job!!! 40 lbs in 4 months, I'd say you already have the answer to your own question. "I lost alot of weight at first and now it feels like its taking longer and alot more work to lose more weight." - yep, thats cause it is harder now. At first those extra pounds were just burning off, as your body fat % gets lower, its going to get harder and harder to lose. Up the weight training and I think you will start seeing the changes you want. You should be doing equal amounts cardio and strength training, add some flexibility/stretching in there and a healthy diet and you are there. Congrats on what you have done so far, keep it up.

"I also lift weights but not too much as I heard that its bad to lift and run at the same time."Well you should stop taking advice from whoever told you that! Unless you are training to run marathons there is no issue with running and weight lifting being combined in the same fitness routine. The simple fact is that running burns calories while you run, weight lifting builds new muscle that burns more calories 24/7. How should you weight train? Well you should lift weight 2-3 times a week. You should use mostly multi-joint exercises (i.e. Deadlift, Squat, Shoulder Press, etc.). I would also recommend heavy weights with 6-8 reps and NO MORE than 3 sets (I only use one set per exercise). That should help you restart your weight loss program with a boost. I've been combining cardio (running interval mostly) with weight training for the last 6 months and lost more than 40 lbs- and I am only 5 lbs from my goal weight now. You can find more advice here... http://totaltransformation.wordpress.com(Note: It is my weight loss blog. Maybe you will find you've faced many of the same issues.)

FYI when you are in a weight loss process a plateau is natural and actually a good sign, I know it is not the best time in your program, but you just have to stay strong. You body is resetting it's weight to your new weight, and it can take a few weeks to get it set before you can start losing weight again, but if you would like a boost to help you feel like you are doing more, I would honestly recommend Isagenix. if you are already doing a work out regimin this will really help. You can get some information from my website at www.lexiwinder.isagenix.com, and watch the "are you toxic video" located mid, left screen. There is also a link to sign up and buy the products. I would recommend for you, since you just need to kick you body into gear starting with a 9 day cleanse program, and then follow it up with a 30 day nutritional cleanse program. You will love it. You can e-mail me if you have any questions. Also if you want to lift weights that is fine, just remember few reps with a lot of resistance builds bulk, and a lot of reps with little resistance tones and tightens.

Even a small weight loss of 10 to 15 pounds can improve your health. Try not to lower calorie intake below your resting metabolism when dieting, this will limit the metabolic slowdown associated with strict dieting. Check out http://use-weightloss.blogspot.com/ for all info regarding weight loss.
