Before. Running after could affect digestion, and if you get too shaken up, a particle of food could end up getting stuck in your appendix and give you appendicitis.

Before breakfast...unless you could wait about 2 hours before running. If you run on a full stomach it will increase your chance of getting side stiches and stomach cramps when running...for some people, running on a full stomach also makes them nauseas.

Before. It's always best to run or work out on an empty stomach. You want your body to respond to the work out versus trying to digest something by eating prior to your run. If you need energy for your run when you wake up, then maybe try a protein shake before bed or a light meal. Or, if you have have to eat something before your run make sure it something light like a small energy bar or protein shake.

It depends on what you're after and how far you run, but generally before is the trend. Some bodybuilders say that doing cardio after you've been fasting all night puts you in danger of burning off muscle, but others say that as long as you don't do a really long (like 45-60 min) session, it's not a problem. First thing in the morning your glycogen (sugar) levels are at their lowest all day, which makes it (at least theoretically) the optimal time to exercise if you want to burn fat.Plus yeah, running on a full stomach is pukesome. Although some of my friends feel terrible if they exercise on a totally empty stomach, so they'll have something light (a banana or something carbohydrate-based).

There are many theories about whether it is better to exercise before or after the first meal of the day. Some say that eating before exercising will increase your energy and thus your exercise output will increase as well. Some say that running (or doing any other form of cardio) before eating in the morning will help burn your body's extra glycogen reserves, which could help in losing weight. So, if you eat before you run, you might be able to run longer or harder, but your body may not be burning calories as efficiently as it would if you didn't eat before you ran. General consensus is against eating a large breakfast before you run, for obvious digestive reasons. However, it may help you be energized to run if you eat a light, carbohydrate snack before running, like an energy bar or bowl of cereal. As always, remember to drink water and stay hydrated.
