Ive lost 25 kgs doing cardio 3x 45 mins a week, i am trying to lose my last 5 kgs and i am wondering if i start lifting weights for my biceps and chest while trying to lose my final 5 kgs am i going to put on weight while doing the weights, the reason i havnt started yet is because i was rellying on the scales for my weight loss, and if i was putting on weight from weight training and trying to lose weight at the same time i wouldve gotten confused.I know that theres other ways of measuring weight loss such as waist/chest/arms/legs size but i mainly relied on the scales.

Muscle weighs more than fat so you may put on a little weight (some say a lb of muscle and fat are the same, but the term is actually in reference to the mass), but if it is from muscle I would not worry about it because muscle actually burns more calories at rest. Remember when working on muscles, they need a day of rest after strength training before working those areas again.

Mixing in weight training with cardio work is usually a good idea. Sure, you may see your body's weight increase slightly overall, but as others have said: muscle burns more calories than fat...so adding muscle will increase your ability to burn those last few kg that are bothering you.But as always: consult your physician before beginning any new physical regimen.

as being 9 years in bodybuilding i must tell u one thing - as soon as u hit the gym u will stop losing weight. first when u re training with weights u have to have entirely different eating routine when u re just doing cardio and losing weight. so u will not lose weight any more. it is very sad but it is true. if u continue eating less as when u were losing weight u will not tone or gain any muscles, so it will be just lost time for u. if u re not eating right while lifting weights u re not achieving anything in gym. u will look as if u never visited gym. if i were u i would lose that 5 kgs and remember - those last kgs are the most stubborn to lose
