|
|
| I've been trying to lose weight this year and did a pretty good job. Over the holidays I was just gonna relax and pick it up when the new year started again. I got pretty used to the idea of only drinking alcohol moderately throughout the year to lose weight. But since I was taking it easy some nights I would go out and drink very heavily. I used to drink alot of beer but not anymore. I usually drink whiskey w/water and lemon juice now. These last few weeks I went out a few times and when I drank I drank alot like 7-8 drinks (not shots) which is almost the equivalent of a 5th per night. I prepared myself for some moderate weight gain but in the morning when I'd wake up I'd lose 2-3 pounds a night. Throughout my diet all I've read was alcohols negative effects on weight loss and I'm just wondering if anyone has any information as to why I may be losing so much weight after heavy drinking. Thanks |

| Alcohol causes you to become dehydrated so you are losing water weight. I am assuming that you gain the weight right back in a few days. |

| it's probably from dehydration ... alcohol dehydrates you ... you can lose like 6 pounds or more overnight if you get dehydrated ... |

| you wake up weighing less because the alcohol is dehydrating you. its all water and ur stupid to think of it as weight loss. booze is a lot of calories so unless ur having whiskey for dinner eventually it will show up on you as fat. |

| drinking definitely has extra calories, but if you stay up longer and are bouncing around or whatever you're metabolism keeps working, and since your just drinking not eating at night it could help :] |

| it is probably not weight loss, it is probably water loss. Alcohol causes dehydration. One sure way to know is to see if the weight comes right back over 24-48 hours with a normal diet. If so, it is probably just water weight. |

| I don't understand why people who drink alcohol don't get that it makes them put on a serious gut. It makes you put on a gut while leaking the hydration from your body. What a horrible mix. Anyone I've ever seen who drinks alcohol has a major gut. They have a bar tan, wrinkles, and a serious dehydrated look to their face and eyes.I'll give you a good tip: Eat a well balanced diet, exercise at least 30 mins a day and drink plenty of filtered water. Give up drinking. Then you can properly modify your weight. Hope this helps. Good luck. |
