Swimming itself losing many calories- it is the drop in temperature that forces the body to hold onto fat for insulation (swimmers have 5% more body fat than runners), increases appetite dramatically, & lowers metabolism that researchers have proven actually CAUSES weight gain. As a triathlete, I dont have the option to just quit swimming, but I desperately need a solution b/c only after my swims do I freeze all day and eat like a horse (on other days I have almost total control of my diet) and it is ruining my attempts at weight loss. Would 30 min in a sauna reverse these symptoms? hot tea and soup? going for a run? Im finding lots of evidence that the research is true but no one has provided any solutions.Heres 1 article: http://www.epigee.org/fitness/swimming.htmlThanks tons!! |

| Maybe you should run and work out each day to counter it,besides that seems kind of absurd to me, swimming is good exercise like any other physical activity. |
