| I've recently started a weight lifting workout routine and I want to know how I can gain muscle relatively quickly. My routine is as follows:Every other day: 15-20 minute run (3-5 km)1 hour of weights (I push myself hard with the weights)1 day of rest in between lift daysDaily exercise: 2 hour walk (to keep heart strong, and to get to school)Meal plan- no artificial foods, lots of peanut butter 3-4 tbspoons a daylots of protein (25 grams every few hours), normal servings of bread, lots of fruit/vegetables + spinach for protein absorption Here are my main sources of protein:cottage cheeseshrimp (and other fish)egg whitessoy (tofu/soy beverage)poultry (chicken/turkey)I try to eat at least 500 calories over my required intakeI am:16 6'3 male, 154 lbs (underweight) 8% bodyfat 50 % muscle ~Please no stupid answers~ |

| It sounds as if you have a very good plan. Include some nuts and legumes in your plan as they are good protein. What kind of workout routine are you doing? If you are not already doing so, you may want to move to a split routine where you do back, bicpes and legs on Day 1, chest, triceps and shoulders on Day 2, skip a day, repeat the workout days, then skip two days. Don't overtrain, as you will not build muscle. Talk to a trainer at your gym because you need to have a routine that focuses on more weight and fewer reps. Just pushing yourself hard will not do it, unless you are pushing yourself in the right way. |
