| Unless you're a frail being or have a heart problem it's really not important to monitor your heart rate while running. If you're trying to lose weight just sprint when you break a sweat you'll know heart rate is high. I see people in the gym with these heart rate monitors and they are afraid to break a sweat because it's not in their recommended heart rate. it's simply not needed |

| To burn fat your heart rate should be 70-75% of maximum. The easiest way to find your max HR is to subtract your age from 220. When your HR goes above 70% you burn more carbs than fat. Some serious distance runners use their HR to determine how fast to run. |
