| Ive been going gym for quite a while and i do my cardio 3 times a week and then weights in between (5 days). My run consists of: 15 mins at a gentle ish jog (speed 9 whatever that is on the treadmill), then 5 mins sprint (speed 16) then 5 mins at speed 9 again, then 15 mins at speed 10, then a 15 min cool down. This kills me but i want to do more, as ive got to a point where this doesnt do anything for me anymore. Ive tried going to 45 mins but i stopped at 43 mins lol i couldnt do anymore. How effective is the incline at 1 or maybe 2, what will this work specifically? Also what does everyone else do at the gym in terms of cardio? am i doing to much cardio? im getting bored of my workout and im just doing weights this week with higher reps lower weight. I need some good workouts though so i dont get bored? arghhhh not these stupid robot thingy me bobbies, any real answers |

| 7km in 40 min is good - this translates to a 2hr pace for a half-marathon.The way you vary your pace is also very good for improving fitness and for fat burning. An incline between 1 to 2 simulates outdoor running more than 0, power walking up a steep incline is also good and gets your heart rate up.Maybe you could use the other cardio machines - 20 min cycling, 20 min elliptical, 10 min rowing for example or a spinning class. That way you would be using different muscles. Also you could go swimming or try classes at your gym like body pump which focus on weights. To push yourself a good idea would be to sign up for a race - it could be 5k, 10k half or full marathon depending on what you prefer. This is a really great motivation for pushing yourself - I'm training for a half-marathon at the moment and find training is easier if you have a goal in mind.If you don't want to run for too much longer then a 5k or 10k would be good, you could focus on improving your time by increasing endurance - longer runs and improving your speed with interval training.I don't think you are doing too much cardio and doing weights in between seems like a good balance. |
