Ferns usually thrive in very moist habitats because:a.They have a water-dependent sporophyte.b.Their leaves have large surface areas for water loss.c.They have flagellated sperm that need water to swim to the egg.d.They have a sporophyte that lacks vascular tissues for water transport. The evolutionary history of plants reveals that alternation of generations is geared towards_________________.a.a reduction in the sporophyte phaseb.the loss of asexual reproduction strategy in favor of sexual reproductionc.an equal length for sexual stages in the life cycle of the plantd.the development of the sporophyte on which the much reduced gametophyte becomes dependent

I'm pretty sure the first one is C because ferns are unique in that they are the only vascular plants with flagellated sperm therefore they need water for the sperm to swim in to reach an egg. For the second question, i think the answer is D because alternation of generations is when it alternates from haploid to diploid and usually sporophytes are haploid while gametophytes are diploid.
