My roommate is 5'8" and 257lbs. I'm 5'9" and 180lbs. Our friend Steve is 5'7" and 190lbs. We've made a weight loss bet. There's not way I'm going to win because I lack the time but, I really want my roommate to win because it'll make him a healthier person. Starting with diet, what simple foods can he rely on? Rice? Peas? Corn? Pea pods? etc to help him lose weight faster by making him feel full without overloading him with calories and sugar? He's already started doing situps in the morning and pushups at night and has started walking and hiking on weekends, starting small and has worked his way up to 2 miles. Our bet is a month old but, he's only lost 3 pounds. The end date for the bet is Halloween. The loser has to dress up like Tinkerbell for our annual Halloween party.

aw thats so sad. well he should definitely eat alot of salad, although it does not have much nutrients in it for him it fills him up without racking on the calories. Also, he should be eating the right amount of vegetables and if he needs/wants a snack fruit is great. i started substituting fruits for cookies or things i would nibble on and i lost 5 pounds in a wee (it also helped that i was wroking out). Definitely support him ithink your support will help the most and he should be increasing his workout...maybe running/jogging would be a little better.

Nice bet lol. Make him monitor what he eats and how much. My guess is as his work outs increased so did the amount he etas. He should eat fruits, vegetables, lean meat and fish, pretty basic stuff. SHould also try to eat small meals 5-6 times a day. Just have to monitor what he eats to lose weight.
