| Ok so my church holds an annual sports day kind of thing, and I'm racing my friend [more or less] Tom. He is like a few seconds faster than me and I lost to him by an inch last year. This year I found out he smokes, and I bet that if i win, he has to stop, and If i lose, i have to start. I care about his health, and I cant go back on my word. I'll do anything to win, even if i cant walk anymore after this. The race is on July 14, I did get a lil faster from last year, but so did he. The race is 100 meters, and what are so good workouts/running forms etc. Anything that will make me faster, even by a little bit. I have ankle weights and a squatting bar. However, I doubt his smoking will give me an edge tho, because the race is 100m only. |

| Few things. First, his smoking habit will make a difference. Two, no good friend will require you to start smoking if you lose. That's just not a good bet.If you want to win, eat some complex carbs the night before. You'll have plenty of energy for the next day to really force yourself to go. Weight Train your legs as much as you can between now and then. |

| well, from track i can tell you (as im a sprinter), if you really want to gain an edge on 100 meters, you need to do some running sleds. they are weighted sleds that you tie behind you, and you sprint as normal, but with weights tied behind you. as you do this more and more, when you do actually start to run, you feel like a feather seeing as you dont have that tied to you. you could also do some lunges (weighted), and the next best step, SQUATS. they are best of choice for sprinters when they get in the weight room. |

| I agree with Red Baron. You should not have to start smoking if you lose because he will probably not quit if you win. Hit him in the knee with a hammer if winning is that important. You really don't have time to work out and get better so maybe trying to make him slower will work. |
