I want to lose 100 pounds by September. My parents are setting me up on a weight loss program and we may go see a nutritionist. I'm starting figure skating next month and swimming competitivly in june(which means monday-friday hour long practices) I'm also eating healthier and my friend is training me so that I can make the soccer team at my school. I want to be 125 by september. so will soccer do this and tone my body? and is this a possible goal

If it gets your heart rate up it will help you to lose weight. A good indicator is whether you are sweating or not. If you are not sweating for a prolonged period of time, you will not be helping yourself lose much weight.

I would say that you should be careful. 100 lbs is a big goal. But yes. Soccer can really help with your exercise.

It is possible, but you have to understand that your body will plateau. You will lose a bunch of weight, then, you may lose nothing for a month, then more weight drops off.As long as you do not over-exert yourself, soccer will be fine

That's only 6 months away, so you're trying to lose too much too fast. Great goal, wrong timetable. Slow it down, you'll keep the weight off longer. As for soccer, yes, it is wonderful cardio exercise. If you are not the goalie, then you will have to run up and down the field many times in an hour. This will train your heart to work more efficiently, which will help you workout more easily even longer. As a result, you will lose weight faster. But that's only half the story. The other half is weight training. You need weight training to build muscle mass. Muscle burns about 8 times more calories than fat. So adding just 5 pounds of muscle will burn off the calories faster. By weight training, I don't mean lifting weights in a gym. You can use your body's own weight to weight train. Do squats, crunches and work up to doing some push-ups. The site below has a plan.Go to the site below to the article on Diet and Exercise--Lose 10lbs. Take a copy to your nutritionist to look it over in case she/he wants to tweak it especially for your body profile.Good for you! You've got a great spirit. And a great team approach --you, your friend, your parents, and your nutritionist--so I am sure you will be successful in achieving your weight loss goals.Good luck to you!

100 pounds by September might be a bit of a challenge, but by being active and eating healthy you can certainly begin the road to loosing the weight and as long as you stick with it you will be able to get to the 100 pound mark, and by changing your lifestyle so that you continue to keep the weight off it will be a good goal for you. Loosing 100 pounds may take you around 1 1/2 years depending on how fast you are able to loose it and keep it off. Soccer is certainly an excellent activity that you can add that will help you tone your body and loose the weight. Good luck!
