I have my first hour with a personal trainer today. I have a couple questions. I have some very pre-conceived notions so maybe someone can help me out!1- do personal trainers only know their program, or are they open to other programs (diet and exercise)2- will a personal trainer give the same workout to a fat woman, thin woman, inbetween woman?3- will they give me the same workout as a man?4- are they big advocates of weight loss supplements?5- Any other tid bits would be great!Just for your info...... I am 29 years old, 5'2, 125 lbs. worked out since a teenager. Fifteen pounds lighter since I have had three children. A little bit of a health nut when it comes to eating...... and very active. I have exercised in every which way since i was 17 years old.... I enjoy getting books fromt the library and gleaning info from them. I just don't want to go there and be frustrated that this young kid who thinks he know it all... really does not. thanks!

A personal trainer trains with you PERSONALLY.They look at your strengths, weaknesses, problems you have, things you need to improve, find how much you can lift etc etc etc. They are there personally for you, not for others, so they find anything they can about you, and help you as best as possible!Theyll give a workout they think suits your age/size/weight/strength etc. Its like wearing automatically adjusting clothes (though they dont exist yet ).The clothes adjust to YOU, to what YOU are like. |

personal trainers are just that for a reason.i'm not an expert, but i'm sure they s/he will have done plenty of qualifications and training in the subject and will know exactly which programme of eating and excercising is best suited to each individual.all i can say is go along and see, but even if s/he does turn out to be a complete utter fool don't tar all personal trainers with the same brush.

1) We are open to all programs, we design each program for each individual according to their goals2)No we will not give you the same workout as the others, as I mentioned before we tailor each workout according to their goals.3)I do not understand the question4)Weight loss supplements are junk, they do nothing. Rather do it the healthy way5) Just work out, and I hope your trainer is creative with exercises.. Good luck

1. A good trainer knows many different programs for various goals. No program is good for long, its always changing to keep you changing.2. No, trainers will listen to what goals you want to accompish, and tailor make you a program depending on current level of fitness and experince.3. They could depending on your goals4. Once diet and routine is in place...supps. may be reccomended to top off your program..usually protein shakes, thermogenics, multivitamins....nothing to crazy5. I offer free advise via email if you have any questions or concerns. brian82thomas@yahoo.com

A good personal trainer will tailor the workout to your capabilities and then increse the intensity as you become more fit. They are a very good source of nutrition information and usually recommend dietary supplements over diet supplements. They should find out what you want to do, whether it to lose weight, tone, bulk up, increase stamina or whatever and then tailor the workout to your goals.Personal trainers love people like you who already understand and appreciate the importance and health benefits of fitness.

As a PT I can only tell you what your PT SHOULD be telling you. Not all are ethical, or even good. Just like any profession. 1) Good PT's stay current to any and all new ideas, be they exercise or nutrition based. 2) Your workout should be designed for YOU! There is no "one size fits all" program as the human body differs in each and every one of us. 3) Maybe. A man might need a diet and exercise program very similar to yours, but again, it won't be exact. It is NOT unusual to see a woman doing bench presses or a man doing walking lunges. Depends on the areas that they need work on. 4) They shouldn't advocate, nor sneer at, any supplement. But don't be surprised if your trainer recommends that you take an iron supplement, or whey protein supplement, or even suggests that you try a fat burner/metabolism booster. Good trainers aren't trying to promote any product...they are giving advice that they think will work for your unique situation, build and goals. 5) Tidbits....don't sign any long term contract. Questionable trainers try to push them; good trainers work on a month to month or even week to week, and some, on a workout to workout basis. 6) Extra....if you don't like your trainer, stop using him/her! Some people need a gentle push, others need a drill instructor attitude. Find the trainer that fits your style, and that you LIKE and enjoy meeting with.
