I'm a few weeks into a weight loss program using calorie counting. Unfortunately I was away all week and totally ignored my diet, so I put on about 2 or 3 pounds :S However, I'm getting back to the calorie counting tomorrow (which seems to work for me). I'm 5'4", 143 lbs, 20 years old, female, and I'm limiting myself to between 1200 and 1400 calories a day (more when I work out). I'm only aiming to lose a pound a week. I also work out about 3 times a week, walking on the treadmill at full incline for about 45 minutes. I've got quite muscular thighs and I'm thinking about working in some ab/arm exercises as well - maybe twenty minutes four times a week. My question is - how much do you think I can accomplish by July? I'm looking to lose 20 pounds, and I really want slim toned arms and a flatter stomach - my fat distribution is very equal. Basically almost every part of me has a thin "layer" of fat that I want to get rid of. Am I being realistic? Should I do more strength?

As long as you make your weekly goal, you will most likely be fine.

How much you accomplish it totally up to you. If you are going to use excuses such as you being away all week, I wouldn't expect too much. It sounds like you are looking for excusses for not loosing. Diet, if you are going to count calories, then count them, don't skimp. If you are going to excercise, then do it. Don't come up with excuses for failing.pp
