Ive been researching a lot and noticed that when you are trying to gain muscle mass and build up your muscles you should eat more calories. The problem is i dont want to gain weight by eating more calories because im worried that my strength training and aerobic plan wont burn up all the calories i take in..leading to a weight gain in fat. I am a 17yrold female, 145lbs, and i have a pudgy stomach which i would like to be more toned so i dont feel uncomfortable wearing fitted shirts. I recently started doing a few strength training w/ dumbells bicep curls, lunges, etc total of 8 excersises3 reps of 15 each. I do tht every other day for a time to rest the muscle groups. on the days i rest i do vigorous aerobic workouts on an elliptical trainer.45min high performance-it says i burn a total of800 cals but im not sure if thts accurate just want a toned body dont want to be hugecan some1 gimme advice how to gain muscle but notfat by eatingall of these calories in day. 3500=1lb gota b careful

When you put on muscle, it weighs more than fat; however, your body mass percentage will go down, the more muscle you have. Also, the more muscle you have, the more calories/fat you burn when you do your cardio workouts, so that is great that you are incorporating both. Just be sure to eat a healthy diet consisting of fruits and veggies, whole grain breads, pasta and cereal, lean meats such as turkey, chicken and fish, lowfat dairy and lots of water! You'll see results soon! Good Luck!
