Someone mentioned you can gain insulin ( I am not sure what this is) by being around food/smelling it. Is that true? I want to keep my weight at a healthy level, but I am planning on getting a summer job at either Dunkin Doughnuts or McDonalds, which are very bad for you! I have no problem not eating the food, I am not tempted. But will I gain insulin by selling and serving it? Is insulin the same as weight?

HeyInsulin actually has to do with your sugar levels. People who have a very low sugar level have to take insulin shots just to keep their sugar level balanced. I highly doubt you will gain any weight from working at those places. If anything you might shed some pounds from standing and walking around all day.

Your body may have a short term reaction to it at first...but I think it very unlikely that you would get a rise in insulin from smelling donuts over the long term...after a short while (like a week or two), your brain will start to associate that smell with work. If you stay at the job for a whole summer or longer, you will probably get tot he point where ou don't smell it at all ....and you may get tot he point where you don;t like the smell. I worked at restauratns all through my highschool and college years...I was heavy wehn i started, but by the end of it, I had lost a lot of weight...I was just busy and moving all day...etc. So, it may be true that your body will increase insulin (it is a hormone that helps with the processing of sugars in your blood)...but I think it's extremely short lived...and it won't keep doing it if you aren't eating...

No. And no. If you eat too much sugar and fattening foods you will gain weight. When you have too much sugar or sweets in your body, you have Hyperglycemia and not enough sugar or sweets it is called Hypoglycemia. Don't know if I've helped or not. But, you won't gain weight by working unless you eat too much!
