You can try strengthening your back muscles. You can also try other activities: swimming, cycling.Don't keep causing pain. Pain usually means there is a problem, even if it can't be detected by your physician. And this can lead to more damage in the future.

It could be the way you're walking, how you're carrying yourself or the fact that you're putting a lot of strain on your body when you do so. The human body wasn't designed to be obese at least not extended periods of time. One thing it might be is sciatica. I had a case of this many years ago and it made walking to be rather painful. Sometimes I'd get shooting pains from my lower back all the way down my leg whenever I took a step. This was bad because I was waiting tables at the time. Eventually it went away but occasionally would flare up again. Once I dropped the weight however, it seemed to go away for good. At least I haven't had a problem with it for several years now.

Congratulations is in order first of all. Being obese is a very serious health condition and you are addressing it with exercise. If you haven't already, start a reduced calorie diet. Even if you only reduce it to 500 calories a day you are doing GREAT! I would keep walking. Any amount of exercise Will help. Do this everyday until you can get up to a little more each day. By reducing your calories and increasing your activity you will begin losing the weight and it will be easier.Keep up the good work. You can do this!

Have you tried orthapedic shoes? It could have something to do with the arches in your feet. I know you mentioned you wear good shoes, but if they are not orthapedic and based on the information you have provided, being "Obese", regular gym shoes are not enough support for your ankles, and lower back. As mentioned by others, try some light stretching one foot on a stare and a sort of lunge, I know you mentioned you are of a larger stature so make sure you have a handle available for stability. I think wearing the orthepedic shoes, making sure you are properly HYDRATED and some light stretching this will eventually help with all. Good Luck!

You should always see a doctor before you start a diet routine of any kind...even a walking one. Try stretching before you go on walks...take shorter walks until your legs and the rest of your body are used to walking...gradually increase the distance that you walk. Even if the doctor has checked and there is nothing physically wrong, ask him/her for advise on losing weight. Good Luck!

I'm over weight just as well, I know what it is like to have those pains when you walk a short distance. If you start slow you can work your way up to the walking. I'm only 20 but I know somethings from experience, when you start to walk do a few stretches like, crunches, toe reaches, calf stretches. if you work hard you can do it. another way to help with the pain is to change your diet, it helped me. What I mean by taking it slow, is go out and walk for about five minutes, when you feel comfortable go to ten minutes, and so on, soon enough you will be able to walk for a long time, it may take a while but eventually you can do it (it took me a month just to walk five minutes!).I don't know if this helped any but it did for me! I've lost about 200 LB in the last Three years!if you want to talk more than just I'M me you can go to my profile and do it there!GOOD LUCK!! HOPE IT HELPS!!
