I think I've gained so much weight lately. On weekends and days I'm not in school, I eat a lot. It's like I can't control my cravings. But then on days I go to school, I skip breakfast and lunch (always have, for years) and eat when I get home. I'm so frustrated and I don't know what to do. I can't keep up like this, I'll just gain even more weight. I do exercise but lately I've slacked off a whole lot and my period started yesterday, so now I'm even more lazy. I used to throw up my food (intentionally) when I ate and I did lose a lot of weight but since I stopped, I do believe I've gained weight and I really can't stand it. I've even considered throwing up again, and I keep making plans on skipping dinner and maybe having a small snack instead. Is there anything I can do to beat these cravings? What can I do to prevent weight gain? Like, how many times a week should I exercise and what should I eat?

I have lost 5kg (11lbs) in 3 weeks, by changing my lifestyle. Regular exercise, healthy eating and a good nights sleep are the keys. Have a look at my progress here; http://disciplineorregret.wordpress.comYou can do it! Take care, Andrew

I can only speak from personal experience. What has worked for me is using Leslie Sansone walking videos five days a week, using the SuperfoodsRx website and book, and the Sparkpeople website (basically a MySpace for fitness, www.sparkpeople.com).I have stuck with it because it is easy and inexpensive. (Some of the menu plans that some diets offer are SO expensive to keep up with. Superfoods is not.) So far, in doing all three of those things for a month I have lost eight pounds. That is the way to do it--diet and exercise, but neither killing nor starving yourself. Sometimes I get into ruts and feel like I'm fatter than ever and I'm disappointed with myself. But then I'll find that a blouse I used to be too fat for fits again. Measuring your waist is also a really good way to see your progress. You may not lose many pounds because you're building muscle, but the inches don't lie.I hope you find what you're looking for. Don't fall for pills; they don't work. Neither does starvation. Be good to your body.

First of all, you should never skip meals. That's the worst thing to do if you're trying to lose weight. You need your metabolim revved up and working at its finest. The more you starve yourself, the slower the metabolism gets. Hence, you don't burn calories like you should. You probably wouldn't cave in to so many snacks and junk food if you ate. It's nearly impossible to beat cravings when you're not eating meals. DO NOT THROW UP! That's just insane! Be healthy.Eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Workout! Please go see a dietician. A dietician can really help you with making the right decisions. Also, talk to your parents and friends about it. Maybe you can all get together and eat healthy and work out together. It's always easier to do something when you have a buddy. Do not suffer through this alone. Talk to someone!

I totally relate with you on just about everything.1) Throwing up your food may seem like the thing to do at the time, but it can REALLY mess up your body.2) NEVER EVER EVER skip meals. Every dietician and trainer will agree.3) Plan out what you're going to eat the day before so you can better prevent giving in to your cravings.4) Find an active friend that will motivate you to exercise. If not, then I suggest buying a planner and scheduling some time in.5) Eat 5-6 small meals a day. So if you do slip up in the middle, you won't feel as guilty.Hope this helps!

This may sound contradictory but the best advice here is to never make yourself be sick to get rid or the food, nor should you skip meals.Believe me, this does far more damage than people think. A lot of people get caught out by this thinking they're helping themselves.Instead of cutting meals, make less of them, like you said a snack instead. If you think about food a lot, it probably means you have a borderline obsession with it.If your will to have a healthy eating lifestyle is strong, all it takes is your own encouragement. The average person should take about 2 hours normal excersise per day. You should aim to do some at least, even if it's just a walk that can be benificial if you work up a sweat. To be honest with you, I think from what you've described you are borderline Bulemic. If thinking about food affects your lifestyle I would recommend getting therapy first instead of asking people on the Internet for this type of advice. These things tend to have underlying issues as in, something is troubling your mind even if you don't think so. Once you talk it out with someone, you feel so much better and don't realise how much tention you had building up. I can't say if this is the case for you, but even just one talk with a professional just to make sure could make you a happier healthier person for the rest of your life.

I think you should get a regular eating routine. Don't skip breakfast. Studies show that is one of your must important meals. But maybe your stressed. Stress can make you eat a lot. But what ever you do, please dont throw up. That can weaken your heart, cause you to become infertile, make you very sick and weak.Sample mean plan:Breakfast. 1 cup cereal and milk, or fruits w/t toast.Snack: yogart, crackers or a smoothieLunch: Chicken Salad w/t dressing, fruit cup, or a tuna sandwich with a small bag of chips.Snack: Vegtables w/t dip or cereal barDinner: Fish, rice with a vegtable side , small dessert serving.-------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------Exercise for about 3 times a week more if possible. Start with a little then slowly increase. Never jump into heavy exercise. Your body has to get used to it.Try doing about 1600 calories and walking 1 mile, jogging, swimming, any form of healthy exercise.Slow and steady does the trickMost people do not gain large amounts of weight in a few days or weeks. It takes time to deposit those 10 extra kilograms on the tummy or hips. So if you have gained the weight you want to lose over a period of years, then it is unrealistic to think that you are going to shed those 10 kg in a few, brief weeks.Research has shown that the most successful weight loss programmes are the ones that allow you to lose weight at the rate of about 1 kg per week. If you steadily lose weight at the rate of 1 kg per week you will not be stressing your body and the chances of maintaining weight loss are so much greater. Slow and steady is, therefore, the watchword when you start a slimming programme.

there are ways to lose weight without becoming bulemic/anorexic. Bulemia and anorexia will eventually kill you, not to mention it does a lot of damage to your internal organs. Through bulemia, the acid erodes away the organs in your body until eventually they fail and are no longer good. Dont risk your health to have the image/beauty you want. It's not worth it. Now for the health part, there are alternative weight loss methods that are more healthier for you without damaging your insides. First, do not skip meals. I know that eating less meals may seem less caloric, but it actually makes you gain weight. Eat breakfast, lunch and dinner.. but break the food into smaller portions throughout the day. Eating everything all at once like you're doing is not as healthy and makes you gain more weight. Eating more throughout the day but in smaller portions should eliminate the cravings your having or at least limit them more so. In terms of exercising. I would start a daily expenditure/daily caloric intake chart. One pound of fat is equal to 3,500 calories. So to lose one pound, you will have to burn 3,500 calories. Your daily expenditures (calories burned through activities) must exceed your daily caloric intake (what you eat) in order to lose weight. Don't exceed too much though. Keeping a chart of everything you eat and all the activities you do with the calorie amount should give you an idea of how often you should exercise and everything else. Good luck, and remember. Lose weight the right way, don't risk your health!
