| I'm 230 lbs and only 22 years old. (female) I have worked out for an hour a day and I have been eating around 1200 calories for the past two months. (I ate 1500 cals. a day for the 3 months prior to these last two and worked out for 30 mins. a day and saw no change. So I'm taking it up a notch) I've had my thyroid tested and it's fine there. So what am I doing wrong? I pretty much eat turkey sandwiches on wheat with veggies, low-fat yogurt with fruit, and then lean meat/veggies for supper. I've been staying away from chocolate (my favorite thing) and drinking only water and skim milk. What gives? My current exercise routine includes 40 mins on my exercise bike and 20 minutes of strength exercises per day. I am dedicated to losing this weight and welcome any good advice (no diet pills or surgery advice, please.) |

| It sounds like you're working out 7 days a week and only taking in 1,200 calories. If that's true, I'd try to only workout 4-5 times a week. You can do 1,200 calories a day but amke sure you're not eating any empty calories such as candy, chips, soda... At 1,200 calories it becomes hard to get all the vitamins and minerals you need each day so eating the right foods and even taking a multivitamin is crucial.Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the daily calorie needs calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.Beginners Guide to Dieting - http://straighthealth.com/pages/guides/begdieting.html |

| Honestly if you are doing exactly as you stated in the question for the last two month, you should be losing some weight. Most importantly is if you are cutting back to 1200 calories/ day or even at 1500 cal/day you should lose weight overtime. I myself is 22 yrs old and is in middle of losing weight myself. I work out at the gym, with a trainer only once a week & I am seeing result.... slow gradual result but it's still result. If anything, working out for me now is to get stronger rather than just to lose weight. If you are already honestly consuming 1200 healthy cal/day then you might want to change your workout routine. 40 mins cardio on the bike is good but try running on a treadmill or elliptical for a change....... As far as resistant, try starting out with light weight but do like 30 repetition of that & then increase the weight & reduce the repetition to like 20 or so....... You want to sort of for lack of better word, tears your muscles so your body can repair & grow stronger muscles..... You shouldn't work out the same group of muscles everyday ( if you are able to work the same group of muscles the next day, it usually mean u didn't work it enough the day before ) Usually for me, the day after I work out my arm or leg, my muscle is sore the day after....... Again if you are already consuming 1200 cal/day dont cut back anymore but maybe exchange calories with a few better choices...... Also remember one workout routine does not work forever. Hang in there & Don't give up on yourself =) |

| I would suggest a cleansing diet. I did this and lost 12 pounds and 19 inches in 9 days. I continued and lost 29 pounds in a month. I like the program since it works by giving your body nutrition through protein shakes with digestive enzymes and vitamins and then cleansing out the toxins. We get toxins in our bodies from pesticides, preservatives, water, pollution, medications, food additives etc…. These toxins enter our bodies and get stored in our fat cells. To shrink the fat, we need to get rid of the toxins through cleansing. The program also has a natural diet pill to help your metabolism and curb cravings. It works and it works fast. My skin has improved from the cleansing. It is pricey but worth it! I think cleansing is really important to health and weight loss.
