|
I have been looking online for the number of calories that I need to consume to maintain weight and lose weight and I have gotten SOOOO many different answers ranging from 1400-1900 to LOSE weight. Does anyone have some help in this department?I am wondering what the calories would be for me to maintain the weight of 150lbs I am 5'7" and 19 years old. There were so many variations on the amount of calories it would take to maintain.

Find the number of calories you need to get to mantain your weight. That doesn't change much between different sites. And this part i saw in like ten sites, you should subtract 500 calories from it to lose 1 pound per week. So if you subtract 250 cals then you would lose1/2 pounds per week.

Well, I'm not sure if this will help, but a pound is approximately 3000 calories. So to lose a pound, you have to burn 3,000 more calories than you consume. To gain a pound, you have to consume 3,000 more calories than you burn.hopefully that helped.

go to this site http://health.discovery.com/tools/calculators/basal/basal.html and it will tell you how many calories your body regularly burns in a day . thats the amount of calories you should eat 2 maintain your current body weight. a pound of fat = 3,500 calories and a healthy amount of weight to lose is 2lbs per week so it breaks down like so 3,500 calories x 2 = 7.000 calories that you need to burn to lose 2 lbs per week. that means that you need to burn 1,000 extra calories in a day. this is a good site to help you find fun ways to burn more calories. http://www.health.com/health/article/0,23414,1622624,00.html hope this helps =)
