I am on a medication that has a side effect of weight gain...3 years ago I weighed 150, but ive gained 30lbs since the start of my medication...I'm not really out of shape, I play a D1 sport, but i know i carry unnecessary weight on me (5'9 180lbs)...I'm trying to lose weight but I think its harder b/c of the medicine or something...I do weight training for my sport 2x a week, and do cardio on my own (running/elliptical) 4-5x a week....but i've still lost nothing! I eat as healthy as I can for a college student & I don't drink/smoke...what else can i do?!?

If the medicine is what caused the weight gain, you might not be able to take it off. With all that you are doing, it should have come off if it was going to. The medicine probably keeps it on. When you burn some off, the medicine puts it back on.

Losing weight is a combination of excercise and nutrition. In order to shed pounds you need a calorie deficit, meaning burning more calories in a day than you take in. This means you need to count your cals. Even though you may eat healthy foods, if you consume too much, you will maintain or add weight.In addition, you need a minimum number of calories every day. Generally, it is around 14-15 times your bodyweight. If you don't meet this, your body will think that you are starving, and store every calorie.You seem to have the excercise part down. At some point, people plateau in their weight loss. When this happens, you need to raise the intensity. That meaning running for longer distances or a quicker pace, or implementing different types of cardio: maybe try rowing or stair climbing. I'm not sure what to suggest in regard to the medication. Would your doctor suggest a fat burner or hoodia supplement that might help?
