I run track and recently have taken up weight training. My lower body gained muscle and as a result now looks bigger. Is there anyway I can lose some of the appearance of the muscle and get my lower body to look smaller?I also run cross country and already run long distances.

Unlikely that muscle is the problem. There is probably still a lot of overlaying fat. Jump in for long runs with the distance kids a couple days a week. That should take care of the fat.-------Hmmmm.....You're doing the right stuff then. I'm reluctant to say stop the weights, because its probably helping your competition. Is it possible its a body image issue? People do come in different shapes, and you're stuck with the genetics your parents gave you. You may simply be the wrong shape to look like Paula Radcliffe no matter what you do.....Perhaps by adjusting the weight program or adding something like swimming, you can add a little upper body to balance out? The extra weight might hurt the running some..... your decision of course.Perhaps you still do have excess fat on the lower body. It may be that you just need to have some patience. Stripping all that off via distance running can take time. Years.
