|
|
| I asked my science (chemistry teacher) if it was possible to take some kind of supplement which would give you amino acids and vitamins, but not actually eat any food and just burn up the calories stored in your body. He said you would still need carbohydrates and blah blah blah....Then one kid insisted that maybe if you drank milk, that would be sufficient... So, is it possible to get on a diet of milk and supplements? If not, what kind of adjustments could i make? |

| i saw an article in a magazine recently about milk being able to burn fat around your abdomen, but only if its skim non fat. Your diet shouldt JUST consist of milk and suplements, you need vitamins and minerals too. I wouldnt completely cut out all other foods just drink more milk. |

| there is scientific basis to say that a skimmed milk based diet plus multivitamin & fibre supplements can initiate roughly 8% weight loss in about 10 weeks. These diets ( so called Very low calorie diets) are only offered to people pre obesity surgery and are not for long term. |

| Milk does not have the power to burn fat, especially if it's spot reduction -- because it is absolutely impossible to spot reduce unless it involves surgery. The only reason that article is somewhat reasonable is the fact that skim milk has less fat and less calories than whole or 2%. As for actually sticking with a milk-only diet, I would not recommend that because not only is it dangerous to allow your body to go into starvation mode, but those fat-soluble vitamins that milk are commonly fortified with can be toxic if taken in large quantities. Also the results you see from these restrictive diets do not last, and with the loss of muscle mass -- due to your excessively low caloric intake -- your metabolism will slow even further causing you to gain more than you originally started with. If you want to lose weight then do something that is managable. One pound of fat is equivalent to 3500 calories, so if you simply decrease 300 calories from your normal diet, in about 12 days you could lose one pound of fat. And that isn't even including exercise. Losing weight is just like a job -- you can't expect to be a success over night; it takes time. |

| a diet based on milk would get you very fat, very quickly. milk while it's relatively low in sugars has a high insulin index. which means that even though blood sugar does not increase much after consuming milk insulin levels do. this causes excess fat storage and elevates the levels of blood lipids. elevated insulin levels lead to insulin resistance which is exactly how people get very fat. muscle cells become insulin resistance so more nutrients are shuttled into fat cells as they do not become resistance to the effects of insulin.a balanced diet of proteins, high fiber carbs and healthy fats will always be optimum for health, there is no way around it. |

| I am forced by an evidently freaky stroke (no, I am not old) to be able to tolerate nothing but cold white milk, one cup of coffee or iced tea per day is all. I cannot eat solids of any kind, unless it is pudding or tapioca. Also, I cannot stand the taste of barely any other food, which I presume is some preservatives smuggled in by the processors. I have gone from 134 lbs. to 104 and maintaining that. I am forever tired and getting weaker, every month I have a new "symptom" or problem develop, I can hardly swallow the pills I need. I don't know how long I can live like this but I am "expected" to die from pneumonia (but not malnutrition?). Stay away from any diet like milk only, whatever you do. It can't be good. |
