| Hi, I'm trying to get into good physical condition,I go to the gym 3 times a week and cycle on the weekends. The problem is often when I train in the gym my heat rate goes very high (160+ bpm), this is when I'm going hard but I'm by no means tired or exhausted or even struggling for breath when it happens. In fact I want to go harder and I feel I could push myself much more but I don't want to push my heart rate any higher.I spend most of my time on the exercise bike or the cross trainer, I find it's much worse on the cross trainer.Does anyone have any ideas why this happens or what I can do about it? It would be much appreciated.P.s I'm 20, male, healthy, and have a BMI of 23,Nope, don't smoke... |

| that seems to be a healthy zone to train in and you could push that higher as well, where 140-180 is a medium training zone you could push higher before you reach your max. Your heart rate will decrease on average as you get into better shape, allowing you to push even harder. Interval sprints are gold for this. Concentrate on breathing slower and slowing your heart rate with thoughts and breathing like boxers do. Slowly in through your nose and out your mouth.Your resting heart rate is important too.See a doctor if you truly think your abnormal |
