I got a treadmill 10 days ago. I have worked out 30 minutes a day on the program with rugged trails and hill climbing and have watched my diet carefully. I gained three pounds instead, however, my pants do feel a little loose. Explain.

muscle weighs more than fat. so even though you are gaining weight you are still burning fat. so you are getting leaner and that is why the pants feel alil loose

Hey Lilacs,Congrats! You've gained some muscle! When you first start working out, your body isn't quite used to it. Make sure you drink LOTS of water. This will help you shed the kilos! If you are looking to loose weight, theres a new programme called the lemon detox diet, (sold out in my state atm) but its FANTASTIC! A lot of people swear by it!Keep up the great work, you'll have rock hard abs and killer thighs in no time!

Just to clear up, you have not gained muscle, it would be very hard to gain muscle from a cardiovascular workout. Running, is catabolic, which means too much will eat at your muscle. 30 minutes a day is ok, but nutrition is just as important, as is the timing of eating. I won't go in to all that but all i would say is keep doing your cardio and you will lose weight.
