| I am a 25 year old woman and recently went to a health seminar. The dr. recommended that women take calcium and magnesium supplements. I had been taking a multi vitamin but it had calcium carbonate and he said calcium citrate was better. Does anyone know how much of these supplements I should take and when I should take them? |

| Ok well, it all depends on the dosage of the product. A multi vitamin can simply be taken morning and night, with food. Magnesium, often taken before bed time to help relax the body and promote sleep. Calcium carbonate can be taken in the morning, that's no problem. In terms of dosage, as i stated before it's all dependent on what brand you go for. Don't stress though, the dosage will most likely be stated on the label amongst other information.Hope that helps. |

| Recommended dosages for a 25 yr old woman is 1000 mg calcium and 500 mg for magnesium a day. I buy bottles containing capsules that are half that dose and take 500 mg and 250 mg magnesium with breakfast and again with dinner/supper. I do not take calcium carbonate after reading an article which explained that the body cannot use this form and it ends up being converted into the calcium deposits found in the joints of arthritis sufferers and also kidney stones. |
