I am 22, I have two kids and out of shape. I am 5'5" 110lbs and would like to lose 5lbs.. I am thin but really out of shape. I don't work out but I would like to start.. I have gym membership but just haven't been going.. anyway I was interested in yoga but I am not flexible at all. I know my gym has yoga classes on some days but I don't wanna go in not knowing anything. If I am not flexible at all will yoga be an option? Or should I try something else like pilates? I wanna do something at home I can do myself while my kids are at school. I tried searching some stuff on the web but didn't get that much info about yoga.. What is yoga good for and what will it do for my body? What are some videos or websites good for yoga or people who wanna start doing yoga?

Yoga classes are great. Being flexible would be a plus to going, but you dont have to be thats why they teach you. Pilates is like yoga but a lot harder and works your muscles more. Yoga is more meditating you could say, and relaxing.. but you might not get that feeling until you go for a while. Its a great thing to get into.. it can tone your body and make you physically more fit and mentally a lot more relaxed and positive. Its also madonnas 'guide to life' she has to do it atleast twice a day.. she says its her answer to the way she is now - just thought id add that in!But yeah, great idea if you want to go. Dont just quit after 1 lesson though.. go a couple of times and then if you dont like it you can stop going.

You can buy Yoga instruction DVD's at Walmart (even better is if you have an Academy in your area). I have found Yoga to be one of the BEST exercises for my body, my mind, and my soul! All you need is comfortable clothes (Old Navy has great yoga pants) a cheap mat and WILL POWER. The YMCA and most local gyms offer Yoga classes if you need a good starting place. After Yoga you will WANT to start Pilates and Zumba dancing! It's clean, healthy, and fun.PS; I'm a 46 year old heart patient...if I can do Yoga - YOU can do Yoga!

Yoga is great anyone can do it. Here's a site that gives a good down to earth view on yoga and a couple of free downloadable instructions sheets. Click around and see what you can find.
