Say for an average-sized male (6'0'', 200), roughly how many calories do you think you would burn if you:- Walked 5 miles- Swam 5 miles- 1 hour of high intensity weight training (benching, squatting, etc.)- 100 push-ups- 100 sit-ups?

Calories is a big topic when it comes to weight loss. We need to know 3 definitions: the number of calories in our food, the number of calories a certain activity uses up hourly, and finally our own personal daily limit of calories. I found the responses to all of these questions by following the website in the box below, they have a lot of instruction, I worked off 8 pounds by taking their advice.

you will burn about 1000Kcal and you will get injured soon. All these activities are way too much for one dayof workout. If you are trying to loose fat, do half of this exercise and reduce your fod intake and you will get same result with no injuries.

The aim of weight training isnt to burn calories, but to gain mass. Same goes for the push and sit ups. Burning calories means expending energy to lose weight, so it isnt appropriate to include these exercises in your estimate on how much calories you will burn. For the five mile walk, i would say you would lose about 500-600 calories, im not sure about the swimming though. If you want to lose weight, just walk/run and swim. You will eventually lose enough fat and gain enough muscle, just by walking/running and swimming, that you will reach a plateau where your weight will 'level off', and you can start weight training then.
