I find that when i dont go to the gym i get super depressed. I also find that when i come out of the gym i actually feel more fat then when i walked in, even though the scale has said I've been dropping weight.. Is there some kind of depression that people who frequent the gym.. get? Is it possible to get addicted to running and swimming? People tell me its become my obsession. But i just dont feel good and i dont feel happy inless i go.

sounds like you have become addicted to the endorphins. you may need help though to work through your feelings of being fat. this may be the start of anorexia. talk to a school counsler, or a parent depending on your situation. good luck.

This sounds a lot like an eating disorder to me. You should feel good about yourself when you exercise. If people are telling you its an obsession, they mean it. Anorexia is starvation AND over-exercsing--sometimes people forget that second part. I suggest you see a doctor, because no this is not common.

Well, your depression could be triggered by several different things. The most logical explanation is the fact that exercise releases endorphins into your body, which makes you feel happy. (So missing a day at the gym may make you feel down) On the other hand, I am a bit concerned about what you've mentioned about your weight. It is true that exercise can become an obsession. If you are only spending an hour or two a day at the gym doing moderate movements I would say you are fine- anything more I would look into a little bit of help. Good Luck |

Are you questioning your own sanity because someone you consider important to you told you its become your obsession?Cut it out! You are fine.Take a good look at the person who told you its your obsession. Then, tell them you appreciate their concern but until their is a rehab facility for exercising, it is not dangerous.

it is definitely a obsession but a good one. But enjoy life as much as you can along with it. Otherwise you might regret in years to come
