and eating healthily.I went to a Food Talk (or Fat Chat as the GYM likes to call it) and the woman was blabbing on about cutting the GDA of fat which is 70g by almost half. She said that, from then on, we should only eat, daily, 35g of fat and count it in everything. She then went ona bout snacks and I mentioned nuts are high in fat but good fats and she said no. And to cut it all out. She said that snacks should be a Ryvita and a thin smear of no fat cottage cheese! Or a stick of celery.Surely that can't be healthy?! Or good for your system?I've managed to stay ender the 35g of fat limit but eat a bloody lot while doing it!Not starving myself at all... I snack on fruit or something low fat, drink green tea/water/juice (only have alcohol on occasion) and have 3 meals a day. She said not to eat carbs within all 3 meals so I try to have about 1-2 meals with carbs in.Anyway, the question is, I'm doing all this yet I put on at least 10 pounds within the last week and half!I have been doing sit-ups and weights, using the muscle machines at the gym but also using the X trainer, bikes and treadmills. Whyyyy has this happened? I'm 19 and 5"5/5"6. I used to weigh 75 pounds (12.5 stone) but was weighed at the doctors last week and it was 82 pounds! I'm already overweight for my height but I look in proportion to others. However, I know I'm overweight so would just like to take that weight off my mind - pardon the pun.BNM - LOL. Yes, I mean 175-182Paul M - It's called Changes - A womens' only gym, lol.

any time you start a new workout regimant you have to remembe that you are replacing fat with Muscle. muscle tissue is heavier than fat tissue. So there will be a period when you actually gain weight, after a month or so, it should balance out.

Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you have turned fat into muscle you may put on weight.

I think you mean 175 and 182 lbs because 75 lbs and 82 lbs is WAY WAY underweight

75 pounds is not 12.5 stone....you sure you don't mean 75kgs?Keep going for another week, you might have just converted fat to muscle, which weighs more. What about inches have you lost inches anywhere?

To be honest not all people who work at the gym are always right. My gym instructor is a weird woman who competes in Miss Muscly contests and regularly drinks bottles of water with a can of tuna mixed in 'for protein', so they don't all know what they are talking about. We all know balance is the key. Eat well, eat properly. You sound pretty educated so I'm sure you can understand that eating a burger or kebab every day isn't good for you, unlike some of te idiots out there. Just keep trying. Mix your gym exercise with some classes or practice on the swiss ball, keep changing your exercise and push yourself.

um, you say you are 75 pounds (12.5 stone) do u mean 175?? anyway, muscle weighs more than fat so you can gain weight at the gym and lose inches? granted i just gained weight but my thighs were more toned actually i didnt lose inches at all. um dont lift weights if you dont want to gain weight, just do cardiovascular. granted that didnt really work for me either. my best diet was actually going out and having fun four times a week, even tho i completely boozed it up i didnt comfort eat so i lost weight. being happy is the ultimate diet :)as for nuts just dont over do them, tbh you can gain weight eating anything, i was on a fruit diet for digestive problems once and gained weight eating nothing but melon and papaya granted i was an unhappy mf-er at the time Wink lol

That stupid woman should be shot...fats are essential! 20% of all our calorific intake should come from healthy fats...fish oils, nuts, avocados, eggs, seeds...we even NEED "some" saturated fats which should come from red meat. As I keep telling eveyone on a "low fat" diet:Fat does not make you fat...unused calories make you fat. If you simply cut out all the ***processed*** carbs in your diet, you will drop bodyfat. Out of interest...which gym was it...I cant stand it when crap information like that is given out and most of the poeple in there will take it as gospel as its from a so called "health professional".

The best way to lose unwanted fat is, take a beer mug full of White gourd (ash gourd, wax gourd) juice and add 2 tablespoon of honey and have it in empty stomach in the morning. Good luck.

People who go on about eating healthy food like that are nothing but idiots. They just want your money and you should never listen to them.I know this because I weighed myself today like I do every month at my local pharmacy and I lost 6lbs. I have been eating chocolate and snacking on crisps and whatnot yet I don't put on weight. The reason for this is pure exercise, I have done 5 days straight this past week and I put everything I had into it, I have done weights, running, loads of cardio and swimming and through out all this it has occurred to me that it doesn't matter what you eat as long as you work hard to burn it off.You Can eat chocolate and you Can eat fatty foods, all you need to do is work hard at the gym to burn it off and by doing this it will increase your metabolic rate and make you fitter as well as healthier.Food is just fuel, the only difference is that there's a lot of different kinds but in the end they all do the same thing. Now if you want to lose weight then running is high priority but weights are also highly effective as they burn calories for 24hrs after if you do it right, you just need to exercise more if you want to lose weight.

Go ask for your money back she is obviously a misinformed t*at,you should have five to six meals a day the same size as your hand,Your diet should be made up of 40% protein,40% carbs(unprocessed) and 20% Fat(excluding TFA's,saturated fat)Now you need to educate your brain before you can beat the fat
