| I'm just asking because i don't think people realize there's two ends to the diet/exercise/level of fitness yardstick and that a high metabolism can be pretty high on the suck meter. I know because that's me. While I can sympothize with people who are overweight, especially through no fault of their own because their genetic makeup keeps them heavy, I can also feel pity for the poor soul, like myself, whose engine revs so high all the time it's impossible to maintain a normal lifestyle. Some of the pitfalls are: Can't sleep more than a few hours every night because somewhere around four a.m. I wake up charged and goggle eyed, then feel like crashing again a few hours later.I lift weights and have a great physique, but find it impossible to put on the sort of muscle mass I'd like, no matter how many hours i spend in the gym.I have to stuff myself all day every day just to maintain what I've got. Yesterday for example, starting from morning untill I went to bed, i ate a whole box of cherios, a bannana, a yogurt, two double whoppers from BK with fries and 64oz coke, two slices of pizza from costco for a snack, a whole rotiserie chicken with potato salad and baked beans for dinner, then at night chees and crackers with salami and another box of cereal ( raisen bran ) Got up today and felt like i havn't eaten all week and actually dropped a pound overnight. It's not uncommon for me to lose three or four pounds overnight if i don't stuff myself all day. It's gay, and expensive, and time consuming. Damn thing is i don't even really like eating-it feels like a chore. No I don't have cancer or anything like that. My doctor screened me thuroughly and diagnosed hyperthyroidism. Thoughts/ comments? similar experiences? Thanks. |

I understand where you're coming from, but I think everyone views it as the grass is greener mentality. I am at a healthy weight and have an average metabolism, so I obviously gain and lose normally. Of course I would rather have your problem, having to shell out extra money tfor food to keep my weight up, but I'd imagine that if I were in your boat, I'd probably wish that I could eat a few times a day when I was hungry and be done with it. in the case you're describing, eating does seem like a chore and I know that I view it with pleasure (which could be a problem sometimes ha ga) I feel for you and your effort to maintain/gain weight as long as you feel for me and my efforts to lose/maintain it as well Good luck! |
