I'm 20 years old, and I recently started trying to get back in shape. I'm slightly over-weight (5'10" 190 lbs), but I have a decent amount of muscle to go along with the weight.I haven't pushed myself beyond 2.5 mile sustained runs right now because I'm concerned about my heart rate. I usually run at 6.7 mph on a treadmill, and my heart rate usually is at about 200 bpm. If I walk for about a minute and a half, it usually decreases to a 150-155 range.A lot of times I'll do interval training and do a 7 minute run to finish off after about 20 minutes, 5 minutes at the normal speed, and 2 minutes just over 8 mph. I've seen my heart-rate around 220 bpm after the elevated speed, which quickly backs down when I begin to walk.Should I be concerned about this? I haven't done much running in the past 2 years, but I was always and athlete in the past. I have noticed my heart rate has backed off some since I started running again, but it's way to high for comfort.I have tried lower speeds. I still usually hold 185-190 bpm as long as I'm running.

that sounds pretty high..it might be concerning..i think the burning fat heart rate is a lot lower anyway; at the higher rates (i think 180 might be considered high, but not certain) you'll mainly burn sugars/carbs..maybe try some light jogging, fast walking
