I'm 5'4 and 150 lbs, my cholesterol is 192![Straight from the Doctors office].Technically, I'm overweight for my height.But.. I don't eat junk food, only once in a while-- and when I do its a small amount. I eat loads of fruits and veggies (Cause I love em!) and bake things instead of fry. I use margarine instead of butter, I don't drink milk.I know, "You have to exercises" I do.5/6 days a week, I workout for 4 hours at Tennis.2/3 days a week I go to gym.I also walk where I have to go rather then drive.I rarely skip meals [Only breakfast] and I don't really eat candy that much, or ice cream after dinner. But I'm on a generic version of prozac, and I'm on my period right now, so I'm a tad overweight for a 'reason' as my mother says.I do my best to stay healthy, I'm on level 3 [Highest level] on a majority of my physical fitness test. I use the bathroom regularly, I don't eat a lot of car bs. I'm not trusting my brain latley, because its telling me to just stop eating. (Skip meals, etc). What am I doing wrong?People tell me I don't look fat, they tell me I look skinny. But I don't see that =P

maybe you need to change things up. If this is your routine then its obviously not working. Try doing the south beach diet since you say you pretty much eat that way anyway and that will eliminate any of the food reasons your having high cholestorol and being overweight. Remember muscle weighs more then fat, so if you dont LOOK fat then your probably not.

How much of your weight is muscle? If you are looking at a BMI chart to determine if you are "overweight" or not, they are not accurate. They give a generic span of what you "should" be. But don't take into account other factors such as bone structure, genetics and muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat. You can be super healthy and still show as "overweight" if you go by the BMI. Sometimes its just your body type to weigh more than statistics say you should. If you are happy with yourself and feel healthy and know you are eating and exercising how you should than you are right where you need to be. EDIT: I work at a sit down job, I hate exercise and maybe only exercise twice a week for an hour at a time. But during the day I eat small meals, I'm basically snacking all day long on veggies, pretzels, applesauce, potatoes, etc and drink water all day as well. It has helped me lose 14 pounds in 2 months.

The cholesterol level is "desirable".you work out, you eat relatively healthy.I know this probably isn't the answer you want to hear, but it is FAR better for you to "have a little extra weight" than to be unhealthy. And being "overweight" does NOT equal being unhealthy. It might just be your body's right weight. It sucks, because society will push you to be thinner and thinner, but not every person can healthily be a size 1. Or even a 3, 5, or 7 for that matter. If its something that *really* concerns you, talk to your doc about changing medications, as that might help.

Hi, here are some ideas that struck me as I read your email: First of all, remember that it's possible to overeat "good food" too. For the purposes of weight loss, your body doesn't care if it gets too many calories from chocolate cake or too many calories from broccoli. The end result is the same and that is that too many calories will be stored as fat. I'd suggest that you start keeping a food and exercise log. (You can print out some free ones from the site below.) By keeping track, you can easily go back after a week or two and analyze what's going on.Secondly, your high-ish cholesterol could be genetic. I had to go on a low dosage of cholesterol medication a few years ago, even though I ate all the right foods and lost significant weight. My genes were just working against me. Thirdly, your body may be used to your workout. I'm sure that 4 hours of tennis burns a lot of calories, but I'd intersperse the occasional run, power walk, bike ride, or lap swimming so that your metabolism doesn't get lazy. Finally, if I'm reading your email correctly, you skip breakfast, which is the worst thing you could do. Breakfast literally wakes up your metabolism for the day and tells it to "get busy" for the day. Even grabbing a protein bar or drinking a smoothie would be significantly better than skipping the meal. I hope this gives you some things to think about to see where you can make some improvements. I know it's frustrating to feel like you're doing all the right things and not seeing results. Good luck!

I actually think it's your anti depressant. Oh my gosh, I took them for like a month and gained 20lbs, i seriously wanted to kill myself! My friend was on some kind and gained 50lbs. My mom was on prozac and gained... everyone I know on that type of med gains weight and can't lose it... it's horrible! I think 192 is kind of high for cholesterol... I think mine was like 95? Idk how it came out 95... sometimes it depends on the day I guess. Water retention sucks, I hate periods! So that's probably 10-12 lbs of PURE water weight. Sometimes our bodies just don't want to weigh what some stupid chart says we should. If you look healthy and feel healthy and eat correctly and exercise... then whatever! You can't MAKE your body do something it just doesn't want to do... Smile

If you have a lot of muscle mass you might not be over weight. You should check your BMI (body mass index). Do a food diary, many times we eat more than we know...This might be a long shot, but could you be suffering from intestinal candida? It's a yeast infection in you intestines and one of it's symptoms are trouble losing weight. And the fact that you are on meds. And those can make you gain weight as well.
