| i weigh about 150 pounds, and i'm only 5'1/2'', so that's not a healthy weight. i'd like to lose 30-35 pounds, and get down to a healthy weight of around 115-120 pounds. but i need some help getting started. *i'm thinking about starting the South Beach Diet, but i'm worried about not being able to eat any "good" food. can someone give me some good south beach recipes?*i know i need to start working out. i have access to a treadmill, elliptical, stair climber, bowflex, and some normal weights. but i dont know where to start! what exercises will help burn the most calories??*how long/often should i work out? is every day too much? *what are good ways to tone my abs/butt/thighs? will crunches help with my abs? if so, how many should i do per day? *any other tips will be greatly appreciated!! but, please, no crazy starvation diets or diet pills. thanks in advance! |

Running is your best bet to lose weight fast about an hour or an hour and a half is good. Lunges help tone your thighs and bottom and crunches will certainly help with your abs. Just do 20-30 a day and slowly increase it by 1-2 every week. Good luck!  |

| Do you have a Weight Watchers in your area? I have been going, and it is a slow process but it does work, I have lost 25.4 pounds. Just knowing that you are accountable of what you eat and having to weigh in at your weekly meeting, makes you do well. Now don't get me wrong, there have been weeks when I have gained or just maintained, that is depressing but every time you lose, WOW, it is a wonderful feeling. Good Luck. PS: You can pay weekly or monthly. The leaders are really nice and they do understand what you are going thru becuase they have been there too. |

| Forget the south beach diet. I've tried it, and I'm thin, and I cheated on it! Any diet that considers fruit to be a cheat is a big fat joke! I lost weight, I'll tell you how. I counted calories and ate only 1800 calories a day. By about this time of night, I might crave more food, but its easier to decide, I can wait until morning, than if I was starving at 3:00 in the afternoon. I eat a healthy breakfast, like steel cut oakmeal, yogurt with granola and a banana. A snack, 3 hrs. later, like a handful of nuts & dried fruit, then lunch, I had pumpernickel break, half an avacado and 2 slices of cheese ( no mayo, its didn't need it!) For dinner, grilled chicken and spinanch, with every veggie I could chop up and oil & vinegar with fresh basil & parsley. Then, I had a couple glasses of wine, and 2 pieces of chocolate. Total calories 1816! That is it! I exercise 6 days a week, for 1 hr a day. I take classes at the gym. Tomorrow, I'll take a kick boxing class. I also weight train. Its that easy, just eat healthy and work out and the weight will go. I strongly recommend counting calories so you don't lie to yourself about the amount of food you are eating! Good luck! I weigh 118 lbs and I'm 41, two kids. If I can do it, so can you! Do it! |
