i am a freshman in college and i have a meal plan, that is 2 meals a day in the cafeteria. i have to eat there because my parents paid a thousand or two for the year. anyways, the food isnt extremely unhealthy, but i am used to eating really healthy. i dont butter anything, i eat eggwhites, fresh veggies and fruit and lean meat. here, they butter everything, have pastas, pizza, barely any fruit and the only veggies i get is a salad. everything is so unhealthy and i am noticing that i am gainging weight! i cant eat salads for every meal!any suggestions?

the only suggestion i can offer to you is to get off the meal plan next semester. keep doing what you re doing, or just eat smaller portions of the unhealthy food offered so you wont gain weight.do they do refunds at your school?

try joining the health club there and get more exercise to counteract the higher calories in the food..../

It's called the Freshman Fifteen.Typically 15lb gain in the freshman year, especially with meal plans and all-you-can-eat.Enjoy it, you'll need it during the leaner times.

My college had a "Kitchen Comments" where students could write in with their complaints, compliments and ideas. If enough students wrote in they would usually implement the idea. Also, I always missed a good 3/4 of the food that my cafe offered. It was so big! So, my school had a website for food service with the menu for each day of the week. Look at the menu ahead of time and plan out the healthiest options. If you can't find them when you go, ask someone where it is.And with college comes beer. And I'm not necessarily saying you do drink, but that is where a lot of pounds come from. If you will be drinking that night, try to be super mindful of what you're eating that day. Also, have a salad with grilled chicken (or some other lean protein) for dinner that night. That will mean you'll need to drink less to get the desired effect, which means less calories. Also, after a night of drinking, temptation is very difficult to resist. Have your roomie or someone hide your credit card/cash before you go out so that when you come home wanting pizza at 3 am, you can't have any!Hope all this helps!

Ever heard of the freshman 10? Its typical to gain around 10 pounds first year of school for many reasons. I think the main reason is just you're still growing. I saw people a couple years out of high school and they looked so much more filled out and grown up. Women get more curves between 18-21 and men get a little bit more bulky. Don't stress out too much, just eat a variety of foods and make sure you are exercising.

You better figure out something now!! Cause its not gonna stop! I gained 25 pounds over the course of 3 years and I've seen classmates gain more than that. I decided as a senior that I wanted to look good when I graduate so I lost it and damn I look good.My advice is to walk and jog first. Walk to class and find a public park or track to walk around. Find what time of the day works for you and walk/jog at LEAST 1-2 miles a day, (3-4 times a week). I liked to go at night in the summer. The park or track should be somewhere where alot of people go to walk/jog. It feels good to see other people trying to reach some type of fitness goal. After you lose the majority of the weight you want, then go to the gym and lift weights, do high inclines on the treadmill, crunches, cardio, etc...Continue to eat veggies, fruits, drink water....You can eat "bad food" but limit it to only a little. For example, eat one slice of pizza with a salad, and some vitamin water. I would also cut down on red meat/beef and pork. Also, load your mp3 or ipod with good hype/ crunk/booty music.....something about it made me work harder.I'm telling you, once you find out what works for you and make it a routine, the weight seems to drop off and could reveal a new body (some of my weight went to the right places)

Under weight treatment1)The best way to add weight is to increase your intake of complex carbohydrates, particularly whole grain ones. Foods like whole wheat bread, muffins, pasta, crackers, and bagels are good to include. Also, legumes and fruits would be wise choices.2)In order to gain weight, you will have to eat more calories. You will need to include regular exercise and strength training into your lifestyle in order to prevent gaining too much weight as fat. And, as I mentioned, those extra calories should come mainly from additional carbohydrate.3)To start, set up a realistic goal weight for yourself. You may need to resign yourself to a less than (what you may consider) an ideal weight. Make good nutrition your priority, and weight gain the second.4)It is best to gain weight slowly and steadily. This will help to ensure that your weight gain is in the form of lean body mass and not excessive fat. Don't try to gain more than 1/2 pound a week. Some more tips5)Drink 6-8 glasses of distilled water a day.6)Eat frequent but small meals.7)Eat lots of raw fruits and vegetables (green leafy vegetables are great)8)Do not drink coffee, alcohol, soda pop,...9)Do not eat processed foods; white sugar, white flower,...10)Avoid red meat and animal fats.11)Reduce intake of dairy products.12)Do not smoke and avoid second hand smoke.13)Avoid hard drink too.

whereabouts are you located, I can make some suggestions based on this. They can include beyond single sessions, group therapy work done at a cancer fundraiser in the area for a mere $10 donation and other thoughts. www.AdvancedCareHypnosis.com 973 402 6882
