Okay, so I left for college about 3 weeks ago...and the college I'm at has super fitness facilities so I looked at college as a time to lose weight and get into shape, because I'm a little chubby! ^.^Anyways, I've been eating super healthy and only snack when I'm hungry, and even then it's only an apple! And I drink a lot of water, and I don't drink alcohol...it's not my thing. Not to mention my campus is rather large and I walk EVERYWHERE, and I go to the gym and walk around the track after class sometimes, plus I take fencing classes every Monday and Wednesday for 2 hours. This is way more physical activity than I've ever really done in my everyday life...So lately, I've been thinking that the weight would just fall off but I came home this weekend and found that I've gained 5 pounds! WHAT?! How is this happening? And why? what do you recommend I do?I mean I've heard of the Freshmen 15 but I didn't think this would be happening!

It's only 5 pounds. It is probably just water weight. Just keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine. It sounds like you are getting plenty of exercise so keep that up and keep snaking on apples and i think you will start to see the weight come off. You could also just be gaining muscle since you are more active than before. Good Luck! =)

First off, did you weight yourself with the same scale same same time of the day after eating the same thing all day? Probably not, your weight naturally flusters 5-10 pounds a day. So nit worries you didn't really gain 5 pounds.

You have to make sure that you are still eating enough calories. If you don't your body will go into starvation mode and stop losing weight. Remember the biggest loser they are always saying you have to eat to lose. If that's not the problem I wouldn't worry about it unless your clothes are starting to get tight.

Firstly, don't panic. The weight gain is probably caused by increased muscle mass from all the exercise you've been doing. Muscle weighs more than fat and muscle actually burns fat.It could also be caused by water retention. It's not unusual for your weight to fluctuate like that, so don't worry.Secondly, you said "Anyways, I've been eating super healthy and only snack when I'm hungry, and even then it's only an apple! "That isn't super-health, I doubt you are getting enough calories in your diet and you should really stay away from high sugar foods such as apples*. Swap high sugar foods for low GI, complex carbs such as wholemeal bread, brown rice, nuts and seeds, etc. Low GI/complex carbohydrates will give you sustained energy, unlike high GI/simple carbohydrates (starchy, sugary foods, etc.) which will give you short bursts but then cause a crash of energy later on. Sugary foods is also not good if you want to lose weight.*It's OK to have them after a workout though, becuase your body will need glucose, so you can have an apple or banana after exercise when your body needs it, this is the only exception.I wouldn't worry at all unless you look like you have physically gained FAT. Don't rely on scales so much, like I said above, muscle weighs more than fat.
