| The major advantage of running is that it virtually works out all parts of your body. It's more rigorous, and there's more impact on your body with each sprint. I also happen to know running, if done correctly, can guarantee some abs... run with dumbbells and voila! |

| Running definitely burns more. Riding a bike is more efficient. Also, you will be performing the activity for a much shorter time. But you really might want to ask a different question. You will cover a mile much faster on a bike than running. You might run a mile in 6 minutes but bike it in 2.5 minutes. So you will be performing that activity for much less time. If you are considering the amount of work done while training for fitness, you want to compare over time and not distance. You might want to ask the question, if you run for five minutes will you burn more or less calories than if you ride a bike for five minutes. If you perform either for the same time each day, they'll be a difference but it probably won't be that great. It will really depend on how much you can exert yourself at either exercise. You probably care more about which one you enjoy the most or which your body tolerates the most. It's most important to stick with an exercise program so you have to not hate it and not hurt yourself doing it. Best would be if you switched off as you'd work different muscles and also give your brain some variety while you work out. |
