My dog is a 7yr old pit- lab mix and is extremely active, he goes on runs a few times a week while my dad mountain bikes, and as my dad says, he 'tear asses' through the woods lol. He has started coming back limping and in the past we have taken him to the vet and they say that he'll be fine. Since he has gotten a little bit older and its been happening continuously for a month or so, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this with their dog, (I think it is a muscle issue) and if they have any recommendations on how to help him out. We have waited for the limp to go away for a while before he goes running but it never fails to start up again. Is there a good supplement, should I massage it? Thanks for your help! I hate seeing my baby hurt :(My dog is in excellent shape, he is fit and muscular, he doesn't need to go on a diet. We never give him people food besides lean meats and vegetables. It is due to his activity, and straining himself. I appreciate your answer but thats not what the problem is..And to CJSMommy, my friends have been telling me that he's 50 years old in people years, he'll lose some of his pep! So, I understand that too. And I wasn't really aware that labs are known for this. I just wish I could let him run without feeling bad that he'll be hurting Sad Thank you for your answers!

Labs often have hip issues - running for dogs can be hard on them as they get older.
