walk on your heel 100 yards a day. and walk on your tippy toes 100 yards a day. we do it in football for that reason. and the walking on your heels, actually feels good.

Stretch out really well, perhaps ice your shins before and after running.Try shorter distances, walking in between.Your shoes can make a difference, as well as the surface you're running on - concrete is really hard on your legs, best is grass or bare ground or a surface designed for running.Good luck.

I use to get shin splints and my aunt told me to do this before I run. If you put your toes on the edge of a stair and drop your heels down slowly you can feel the stretch. It works.
