If I'm eating 2100 calories daily but burning about 400 through exercise is this enough to lose weight? My net calories for that day would be 1700. Is this still an adequate number for weight loss?Yes I know that..but everybody talks about eating 1200 which is not enough for somebody like me who exercises so much. I need realistic advice.Michele - My BMR is 1353. This seems really low. This is before exercise? One last thing - I am a female runner with low percent body fat and quite muscular. I am 115lbs 5'5. I'd hope I have a fast metabolism.

If you want to lose weight, you have to burn off more calories than you take in.

The average person will burn approximately 2000 calories per day due to normal activity. If you are an average person and burning an additional 400 calories due to exercise then yes, you will lose weight.

That depends entirely on your basal metabolic rate. If you have a pretty snappy metabolism (or are quite muscular and/or quite tall/large), you can probably still lose weight on a 2000 calorie diet.~M~p.s. You can google "basal metabolic rate calculator" to find out what your body burns at rest during a 24 hour period.

Yeah, totally. As long as you use a lot normally. Example: I'm 210 lbs. of mostly muscle. My body uses about 3000 calories a day just sitting around. I can lose weight with 1700 calories a day. If you're not a little bulked though, you probably won't lose any or at least not quickly.

yes u don't have to starve yourself. Just burn off more than take in which means that u also have to exercise! cos sticking to diet only is an exercise in futility! So make sure u exercise esp cardio eg running jogging cycling etc!

why do you need to lose weight? Your weight is already ideal and physically fit. You said it yourself you have a low percent body fat and quite musular so why would you want to lose any more fat? It is actually bad for you to have too low a body fat.
