I'm considering doing a water fast for about a week. Maybe 5-7 days? The only thing that I will actually be chewing is Green Tea gum. It is supposed to boost your metabolism. Hopefully, it will allow my metabolism to stay around normal. It isn't really for weight loss, it's more of a mind game. See how much control I really have over what I put into my mouth. However, it wouldn't hurt to lose some weight in the process, how much do you think I could lose?Wow it's suprising to see that many of you are stunned by the fact that I will be trying it for almost, but not quite a week. I have seen people do it for 40 DAYS!!! And get this, they're alive! They feel better than they did before the fast....

You would drop a few pounds, mostly water weight. But i can guarantee you that once you start eating again-even if its healthy, you will gain the weight back.

You should never fast more than 3 days (72 hours) at a time... Fasting longer than that will significantly slow your metabolism to the point where when you eat again your body will be more likely to store the weight you just lostBesides, unless you've actually fasted for a week before and know what to expect, you're in for a tough haul... You will likely experience fainting spells after the third day, as well as extreme fatigue and bouts of depressive episodesYou can fast every so often and still lose weight, but there are a few tips you'll want to follow:- Absolutely NO STARCHES for the first day or 2 that you're eating again... And the first meal you eat should be fruit- Do not take part in any strenuous activity when you're fasting... Walk for exercise- Coffee is an excellent appetite suppressant- You may want to consider fasting once per week, rather than this 7 day fast thing... A 24 hour fast once per week is a good way to cleanse your body and reboot, and does not pose and danger to your health

YOu could lose several pounds, but you will also destroy your metabolism. Without food, it will grind to a halt. Your body goes into starvation mode and every calorie you don't eat, your body will hold onto it. Once you start eating again, you'll gain back all the weight plus more, because your body is storing the energy. Basically, you have to keep eating to lose weight. Unless you start starving yourself and become anorexic, which is terrible.
