I am a happy healthy sized girl and do not feel the need to lose any weight. Just thought i'd make that clear at the get-go. I have heard that people with certain eating disorders take them to keep their weight down and i imagine this does terribly destructive things to their digestive system. But does it actually work? Doesn't it just liquefy their poops? and not make them poop more? Therefore resulting in dehydration rather than weight loss?

No, By the time the laxatives take effect the food has already passed through your stomach and you've absorbed the nutrients and fats. All laxatives will do is make you crap your pants and dehydrate you. Best stick to a healthy diet with exercise. Good luck Kez x

EXACTLY!!! The only weight you lose with laxatives is water. Calories in food are still absorbed, and you have to go to the toilet all the time and can't hold it in!!!!Its a bad path to go down, and you become terribly constipated when you stop using them.EDIT: Yeah I do have bad IBS and I have to eat mountains of fruit and vegtables to keep things moving. Sometimes I can go a week without going to the toilet and become very bloated - Let that be a lesson to anyone out there thinking of trying it. Funny thing is I'm 2 stone lighter now than I was when I was taking them.........

It does work, I know from experience. About 15 yrs ago I was 12 stone, and dieting in combination with laxatives helped me get down to 8 stone in less than 3 months. But it is dangerous as it depletes essential minerals from the body. Which can lead to kidney, and heart failure.
