| I have been ana for years and I use to eat like 800-900 cals, but now I'm eating only 700 calories a day and doing 20 minutes of exercise every a day for one month and have only lost 2 pounds. I'm very over weight, have any suggestions? If your not pro ana than don't answer this with your rude comments, please. |

| If you're only taking in a low amount of calories your body doesn't know when it's next meal is coming so hangs on to the body fat. If you eat 3 small, healthy meals a day or have 6 very small portions a day it will help. Also you need to do at least 30 minutes exercise a day. Try swimming, i have already lost 3 pounds this week doing it this way. If you lose the weight in a healthy manner then you're less likely to put it back on. It isn't good to starve your body and can be exteremely dangerous to your health. |

| You are a dieter (or possibly ED-NOS) - you do not have anorexia nervosa. Anorexia is a psychiatric disorder, one of the criteria (among many) involves a BMI of less than 17.5. If you are "very overweight", you are not anorexic - end of discussion. According to your last post, however (i.e., http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoFdLv7sZ.Aw7iHNNZUC6PHty 6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080716071918AAw7KGY ) you are not "very overweight"). In fact, your BMI is 18.8.That said, the only way to lose weight is to either reduce your caloric intake or increase your caloric expenditure. There are no other ways. It would appear that you've already managed to trash your metabolism if you are eating less than 1000 cals/day and exercising without dropping weight.At this point, you've got quite a problem on your hands, b/c it isn't easy to "fix" a trashed metabolism (the result of long term calorie restriction). So - what you've managed to do here is to incorporate some of the behaviors of a person with anorexia with the associated negative consequences (i.e., trashed metabolism) without the perceived benefit that you wanted (i.e., excessive thinness).Not as great as you hoped it would be, eh?~M~ |

| Michele is wrong. You can be anorexic and overweight. She is right about it be a mental disease, but anyone can have it.. whatever weight you are. Now my question for you is, have you lost weight during the last years that you have only been eating 800 to 900 calories? If not, there is something wrong with you. Maybe you should see a doctor. And yes your metabolism is probably slow from starving yourself all these years, but you should still be losing weight. Also, look closely to your diet. Sometimes there is secret stuff in it that has calories in it that you didn't think did. Like for example. "I can't believe it is not butter spray" has tons of calories in it. It says 0 per serving. But the whole bottle has like 1000 calories in it! I use to use a whole bottle for dinner to cook with! Big mistake. lol. BTW I am not PRO Ana. And I think it is stupid to be pro ana. I am anorexic, and it ruin my life. I hate myself. I want to get over this stupid disease. But it's hard. Get help before it is to late. I am probably going to end up going into treatment myself soon. |
