I am trying to lose weight very quickly for ROTC. I have /-38 lbs to lose in a little over 2 months. My diet is strictly 1500cal/day.I am running and biking every day.I am wondering if I should stop any weight training for fear of building muscle and hampering my weight loss. I currently weight 238 and need to be under 202.Any tips and advice would be great. Can you recommend exercises which should be done everyday or everyother day?Body weight or with limited resources (barbell, dumbell).thank you,CJA very strict solid schedule would benefit me as I am wanting to follow something to the T.

You can weight train but you if you're trying to lose weight, you should be doing higher reps and lower weights. Otherwise, you are just going to get bigger. But when you're trying to lose that much weight, I would just stick to the cardio.

the more muscle you have, the better you will burn calories, so it's at your advantage to do weight training 2-3 times a week in addition to cardio.

In your case, I'd recommend you weight train 2 or 3 days per week. When you weight train, not only do you build muscle which weighs more than fat (which makes you "gain" weight, according to the scales) but you also raise your metabolism - which is great for weight loss. Good luck.

muscle burns more calories so you need to keep up the weight training. you may build muscle and not lose as much at first. but after about a week or two of added muscle you will be a fat burning machine and you will lose weight faster. so keep the weight training.

It's a common misconception that muscle weighs more than fat. It's like comparing a pound of feathers to a pound of lead. The lead is going to be smaller, but a pound is a pound. If you took a pound of muscle and a pound of fat side by side, the muscle would be smaller. Realistically, the more muscle you have, the more efficient your body will be at burning fat, so both cardio and weight training are good for developing a strong lean body.

Keep on running and biking. The weight lifting should be low weight, triple the reps.Dont forget 100 oz. of water a day.Take one to two days of rest but, dont fall off the diet wagon. No carbs. period.I've also did the plastic wrap around my waist as I ride my bike, that helps burn more fat and water weight off you and brakes up the solid fat cells to smaller fat cells. Try it for one week to see improvements.

The free E-book on this site might be just what you need to help you lose weight. It's a free download so at least it won't hurt to try it.
