|
|
| Up to this point, we have seen some beautiful games on the PS3. Titles like Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and Metal Gear Solid 4 have wowed us, and future titles like Far Cry 2 promise to do the same.At this moment in time, then, the PS3 rivals an average PC very well, but has so far failed to rival games like Crysis in terms of pure graphical beauty. In 3 years time, or perhaps more importantly in 5 years time, as the PS3 nears the end of its life cycle, what do you think its graphics will be like? Will it reach a "wall" which developers cannot push it passed? Or even in 5 years time will it be able to offer graphics that can challenge those of a typical gaming PC? |

| well a ps3 can run in 1080p, and some game that comes along that can really test ps3's power will really show you. The ps3 hasn't been out long enough to throw something outstanding yet, but MSG4 has some great graphics.according to sony the ps3 will last 8-10 years, at least thats what they said. Imagine a game that long in the making.. |

| Well, the thing about the PS3 is that all the games you've seen so far have been using only a little bit of the processor. The Cell is an 8-core processor. Most modern computers have 2 cores (sometimes 4). More cores doesn't automatically make better games. It just means more potential.Multi-core processors are the future of computing. As developers learn to use them, the games will get better. This is true of PS3 and PC. Think of it this way. When Metal Gear Solid 2 came out, it was praised for having the best graphics ever seen. Now, it still looks OK, but nowhere near as good as modern games. Now imagine in five years saying the same thing about Metal Gear Solid 4. |

| absolutely not. The ps3 hasnt even gotten close to it full compasity of graphics. in 5 years it will have reached its peak and i think there wont be much that can compare to it. The ps3 itself will improve over time too |

| The best games are yet to come. Developers are still trying to understand the full capability of PS3. PS3 is very powerful, but it has a very complicated structure. It'll take some time to understand it to the full. As for the Crysis - even a very powerful high-end PC chokes on it. |

| I believe so. Just look @ the PS2. Games like FF and God of War 2 really hit the peak just when the PS2 was beginning to be pushed aside for the PS3. Developers havent even scratched the surface of whats possible for the PS3. |

| Simple answer; YesLong answer; Of course, the Playstation 3 has an RSX at the heart of graphics, which is pretty good, not as powerful as the Xenos in the 360, but the Cell has the ability to decode and encode video, as well as doing AI, thanks to it's SPUs.While the RSX may not have as much FLOPs in performance as the Xenos, the Cell certainly backs it up, and insanely good.It also has it's own bank of 256MB of VRAM and 256MB of XDR main RAM, which makes for little bottlenecks (RAM wise anyways).Whereas the 360 has 512MB that has to be allocated between CPU and GPU, which will provide bottlenecks. So, no, it won't hit a "wall" in a while, the Cell isn't even close to be fully used, not to mention, it's unlike a traditional CPU, and code can be spread over SPEs (which aren't physical cores, but act the exact same). |
